Tablets, chewable tablets, oral suspension
To treat a variety of bacterial infections, including those of the sinuses and middle ear, skin and soft tissues, genitourinary tract, and the respiratory tract. The medication is effective only against infections caused by bacteria, not against those caused by viruses, fungi, or other microorganisms.
Amoxicillin blocks the formation of bacterial cell walls, rendering bacteria unable to multiply and spread. Clavulanate enhances the effectiveness of amoxicillin by inhibiting the activity of a specific enzyme (beta-lactamase) produced by certain drug-resistant strains of bacteria.
